Campus Innovation Resources

The current landscape of entrepreneurship/innovation initiatives at Emory and established initiatives at partnering institutions provide an attractive foundation for an interconnected program of innovation entrepreneurship and global health. Some notable examples are listed below.

Advancing Healthcare Innovations in Africa (AHIA) Workshop

Supports and promotes the advancement of healthcare innovation and technologies in Africa by advising, educating and training African scientists in the business and legal aspects of the healthcare sector.

Atlanta BEST Program

This NIH-funded program (from October 2013 through August 2018) experimented with and implemented innovative predoctoral and postdoctoral professional and career development training to meet 21st-century scientific workforce needs. The goals of the BEST program are now being pursued by the Laney Graduate School.

Atlanta Tech Village

Partially funded by Emory, this initiative supports and inspires entrepreneurs to achieve success through a community that promotes effective connections between talent, ideas and capital.

Coulter Translational Program

Funds and supports translational research that will lead to commercial products that address unmet clinical needs. The program’s primary goal is to improve patient care through collaborations between clinicians and engineers to commercialize biomedical technologies.

Drug Innovation Ventures at Emory (DRIVE)

A not-for-profit company wholly owned by Emory, but with the independence to run like a biotechnology company, DRIVE is uniquely designed to move early discoveries into the development phase and to provide the special expertise required to do this in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

Emory Chemical Biology Discovery Center (ECBDC)

Offers state-of-the-art high throughput screening (HTS) and high content screening (HCS) capabilities with multiple integrated robotic systems and a large collection of small molecule compound libraries. With these platforms, ECBDC aims to accelerate translation of basic research discoveries and high throughput biology into novel targets, chemical leads, and therapeutics.

The Emory Entrepreneur Network (EEN)

This network for alumni entrepreneurs to connect and learn about entrepreneurship opportunities also administers an annual award.

Emory Entrepreneurship Summit

This 2-day annual event includes notable keynote speakers, workshops, panels AND a pitch competition, with cash prizes. The aim is to highlight the entrepreneurial endeavors of our community.

Emory Entrepreneurship & Venture Management Club (EEVM)

The club aims to spur intellectual growth and curiosity for undergraduate students who wish to pursue entrepreneurship.

Emory Impact Investing Group (EIIG)

The group helps undergraduate students close the micro-business gap through short-term debt investments to entrepreneurs in the Atlanta community.

Emory Start-Up Launch Program

Guides early-stage founders through a defined process that helps teams rapidly take their ideas and test them with customers in order to develop a business model to move the start-up forward.

Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Club (EVCC)

The club focuses on entrepreneurship and VC for grad students. Its three main goals are to connect, ideate, and create.

Entrepreneurs In Residence

The Goizueta EIRs (entrepreneurs in residence) have proven track records creating numerous successful entrepreneurial ventures. They advise students looking to start their own companies, and create connections in the community. They are invited to present in the classroom and interact with students in a small groups and with 1:1 mentoring.

Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance (GaCTSA)

Leverages the complementary strengths of its participating members at Emory, Morehouse School of Medicine, Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia to accelerate clinical and translational education, research and community engagement to impact health in Georgia and beyond.

Global Center for Medical Innovation

This not-for-profit affiliate of Georgia Tech is the Southeast’s only comprehensive medical device innovation center dedicated to accelerating development, building businesses and improving health.

Goizueta IMPACT

Emory’s signature approach to experiential learning for MBAs gives students’ careers a running start by empowering them to put theories, frameworks and learned leadership skills into practice.

Kauffman FastTrac® TechVenture

A proven entrepreneur training course designed to help technology/science-based entrepreneurs grow a great idea into a successful business.

Pediatric Technology Center

Its mission is to establish a world-leading program in the development of technological solutions for children’s health.

Pitch the Professors

A competition in which entrepreneurial-minded students have an opportunity to present their business concepts and strategies to expert faculty at Goizueta Business School, similar to the popular TV show “Shark Tank”.

RAISE Forum

Presented by Goizueta Business School, this unique event brings together start-ups and investors from across the Southeast with the goal of closing the region’s funding gap with higher levels of funding.

The Roberto C. Goizueta Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation

Entrepreneurship at Goizueta has a wide array of programs focusing on entrepreneurship, including frequent panels with entrepreneurs and investors.

START:ME

An intensive 14-week accelerator program that provides the most promising community-based micro-entrepreneurs with business training, mentorship support and early-stage financing needed to develop their businesses.

TI:GER Program

An innovative partnership between two world-class institutions—Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology—that brings together graduate students in law, business, science and engineering to work on start-up projects. Its goal is to transform highly promising research into economically viable products.
